Policies

SMOKING POLICY

Cuthbert House is a non-smoking facility. Non-compliance with this policy will result in a $250.00 cleaning fee.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

Cuthbert House is designed for the enjoyment of guests aged 12 years and older.

PET POLICY

Pets are only allowed in our designated pet-friendly accommodations. A one-time non-refundable pet fee of $50.00 applies per stay. No more than two (2) pets are allowed to stay with their owners in pet-friendly accommodations. Weight must not exceed 75 pounds per pet. Pets must be well-behaved and leashed at all times in outdoor areas. Pets are not allowed inside the first and second floors of the inn. For housekeeping service, owners must be present or pets must be crated. Cuthbert House strictly adheres to the ADA (American Disabilities Act) definition of service animals. If traveling with a service animal, it must be under the handler’s control at all times and may not be left unattended. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not considered service animals according to the ADA and must comply with all policies and fees associated with non-service animals.

LATE ARRIVALS

Check-in time is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. For late arrivals, kindly contact the inn in advance to make necessary arrangements at 843-521-1315. Check-out is expected by 11:00 AM.

EARLY DEPARTURE

Guests who check out prior to their scheduled departure date are subject to an early departure fee of one night, plus tax.

PAYMENT POLICY

To secure a reservation at Cuthbert House, a valid credit card is required. We accept most major credit cards. An advance deposit equivalent to one room night, including taxes, is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due upon arrival. Rates are based on double occupancy, and an additional charge of $35.00 will apply for each extra person in the room.

SERVICE CHARGES

To enhance your stay, we offer a range of special amenities and services designed to provide you with a personalized experience. Please note that a 20% service charge may be added to the cost of select items or services. This charge ensures that we can maintain the high standards of hospitality that you expect from Cuthbert House. NO FIREARMS & WEAPONS

For the safety of our guests and staff, we do not allow firearms or weapons inside the building. Even if you have a legal permit to carry, we kindly request that you refrain from bringing them into the building for the safety of everyone at our inn.

QUIET HOURS

Quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. If you notice a disruptive guest, contact the Front Desk. Televisions, voices, or other devices must be kept at a respectful low level at all times. Doors should be opened and closed quietly.

ALCOHOL

Cuthbert House is committed to promoting responsible service and consumption of alcohol. Only guests of legal age are allowed to consume alcohol on the property. Open containers of alcohol are not allowed to leave the inn’s premises. Guests who bring their own alcoholic beverages and are of legal age are required to consume them in their own room. Public areas outside of the guest’s room are strictly off-limits for alcohol not purchased from the inn. Any associate of the inn is authorized to refuse service to a guest if they suspect that the guest may be intoxicated. Alcohol served during special events by a licensed caterer with a permit to serve/sell alcohol is only available for guests of legal age. It can only be consumed at the event venue.

LOST & FOUND

Cuthbert House is not responsible for any lost, misplaced, stolen or damaged valuables or belongings. If you realize that you have left behind something of value, kindly inform us right away, and we’ll do our best to help you locate your lost item.

ACCESS TO ROOMS

Our daily housekeeping services ensure all guests have a clean and safe hotel experience. The Housekeeping Staff will respect the “Do Not Disturb” (DND) door hanger once within a twelve-hour period to indicate that the room is occupied. The Housekeeping Staff is required to enter the room at subsequent times to clean the room, check for safety, and verify the condition of the room. Management reserves the right to enter a room for reasonable purposes, such as emergencies, housekeeping, maintenance checks, or to prevent violations of our Hotel Policy/House Rules. If we suspect any illegal activity, we may summon law enforcement to aid in eviction. Please note that law enforcement will be granted immediate access in such cases.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE

Cuthbert House is privately operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason that does not violate South Carolina laws. Our inn has a zero-tolerance policy, and we will remove without refund any guest who refuses to follow reasonable standards and policies established by the state and our management. We will refuse service or evict a guest in the following circumstances: if they refuse or fail to pay for accommodations; if they are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and act in a disorderly manner that disturbs the peace of other guests or violates state liquor laws; if they seek to use the hotel for an unlawful purpose; if they seek to bring into the hotel an unlawfully possessed firearm, any explosive or hazardous substance, or any other item that is unlawful to possess and may be dangerous to others; if they destroy, damage, deface, or threaten harm to hotel property or guests; if they cause or permit persons to exceed the maximum occupancy of a room; or if they refuse to abide by the reasonable standards or policies established by The Colleton Collection for the operation and management of our inn.

GUEST ROOM & PUBLIC AREA FIRE SAFETY

Use the fireplace at your own risk, as the owner and management are not liable for accidents. Do not burn anything in the fireplace. Adult supervision is required at all times. Do not leave the fireplace on while unsupervised. Do not leave the fireplace on while sleeping. Keep a 3-foot distance between the fireplace and any objects or people when in use. In case of a gas smell, turn off the fireplace immediately and call the front desk. Do not touch or rearrange fireplace equipment or logs, as they are placed according to manufacturer guidelines. CAUTION: The fireplace and surrounding areas may remain hot after use.

Taylor Development Group, managed by Chris and Suzanne Taylor Ramm, purchased the Cuthbert House in August of 2023. They embody a legacy and passion that span three generations within their family business and are committed to preserving the historic charm of the inn. Their passion shines through in their consistent presence on-site and dedication to ensuring that the spirit of hospitality is woven into every detail of this Beaufort icon.

MICHAEL STEWART

Chef Michael “Mike” Stewart was born and raised in Beaufort, and his connection to the Lowcountry is deeply rooted in an appreciation for its diverse food culture. In the early years of his career, Mike honed his culinary skills under 3-Star Michelin Chef John B. Shields in St. Petersburg, Florida. Beaufort’s allure eventually drew him back home through a desire to grow and raise his family, and Mike now has three grown children that live locally. Mike has played pivotal roles as the Executive Chef and Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Haig Point and served 15 years as the Executive Chef at Clarendon Farms. Now, he’s thrilled to contribute his culinary expertise and southern heritage to the dynamic team at Cuthbert House.

Passionate about sharing Beaufort’s wonders, Carrie brings a wealth of experience from various roles in hotels, restaurants, and events, offering a diverse background that deepens her understanding of exceptional guest experiences. As the General Manager of Cuthbert House, she is devoted to ensuring that every guest’s stay is nothing short of extraordinary, aiming to weave the rich history of the inn with the renowned service and warmth that define the region.
